Sales Representative
Urban Hearth is a specialty distribution company located in Perth, Ontario, serving specialty Hearth and BBQ dealers. Our mission is simple "We like what we do, we care about our customers, and we want to make their experience dealing with us enjoyable, professional and profitable."
Sales Representative Job Responsibilities:
  • Represent Urban Hearth products to the Central and Western Ontario network of specialty dealers.
  • Drive sales growth in your territory by focusing on dealer retention and increasing brand representation.
  • Consult with your dealers about how Urban Hearth products can help solve problems in their business. 
  • Review sales quarterly and at year-end with the sales team.
  • Travel as needed through your territory and occasionally to trade shows and manufacturer facilities.
  • Help keep dealers' salespeople trained and excited about Urban Hearth products.
  • Work with dealers to develop their sales goals and communicate their progress throughout the year.
  • Keep the team informed by submitting activity reports and participating in weekly sales meetings.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current information on pricing and new products.
  • Recommend changes in products, services, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Serve as an escalation point for dealer issues.
  • Be constantly updating your product and technical knowledge.
  • Use discretion when handling private company, dealer and vendor information.
  • Actively seek out new dealers in your territory and maintain prospect activity records.
  • Work with dealers at special events and local shows as needed.
Work Hours + Benefits
We work Monday - Friday 8 am - 4 pm but offer flexible hours and the ability to work at home on non-travel days.

Sales Representative Qualifications/Skills:
  • Ability to operate with a great deal of integrity.
  • Works well in a team while also being able to plan and organize your own schedule.
  • Have a sense of humour and flexibility.
  • Fantastic written and oral communication skills.
  • Excel experience is an asset.
  • Must be computer literate. Experience with Mac is helpful.
  • Able to take a task from idea to completion.
  • Follow up - a sense of urgency to help customers answer questions in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to approach work with curiosity and humility.
  • Clean and tidy with fantastic organization skills.
  • Experience in the Hearth and BBQ industry is a plus.
  • Presentation skills (Comfortable doing in-person and Zoom training one-on-one or in small groups).
  • A great relationship builder who can get along with all kinds of people.
  • Inclusive and accepting. 
  • Confidence driving in a variety of road conditions.
  • Ability to be away from home while traveling to see dealers (overnight trips are required).
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
  • College or University degree with a concentration in marketing, promotions, advertising sales, or business administration an asset
  • Three to five years of sales experience with preference given to those in the Hearth / BBQ industry.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
